Matched set

My lens for my camera weighs a ton, the camera aint light either, but that lens.... ugh. Its an oldie and is even considerabley more heavy than a newer 300mm lens. Wearing that camera strap around my neck was going to wear it raw, so I covered it with padding and some nice cotton fabric. A matching cup cozy, and I am ready to roll! I am amazed at what a difference the cover makes against my neck. We went for a long walk, with my camera hanging off my neck the whole time and I was pretty thankful for that covering on my strap! Notice the lens cap holder too? That thing is pretty cool, it keeps your lens cap with your lens so its much much more convient. (Sure is a pretty camera isnt it?! :D)

A dyke walk

You never know what you are going to see when walking along the dyke.
It's a good idea to keep your eyes open and ready to spot wildlife.

Quick! Get that picture of that bird!

Even Tony was getting into taking pictures with his camera.

I was pretty snap happy through out the walk. Finding lots of inanimate things to take pictures of, like this clump of grass.

And this frozen over puddle.

The birds were a little more animated, elusive little buggers!

Finally, I called this dude and said, "hey you, pose over there by that tree for me." He said, "who, me?" I said, "yes you, get over by that tree and look all sexy for me".

I ask for sexy, I get goofy. Go figure.

This bird understood what I was after. The pouty, sultry look was just what I was going for.

Just a fun bridge to cross.

It's always fun to meet friends out for a walk. Here is Dexter, what a character this boy is!

It was freezing out and our fingers we beginning to get numb so we hoofed it home.

The arrival of my baby!

Finally, I have managed to get the camera I have long long desired. It has been a long time since I have had command of an slr and it sure feels right at home in my hands! I am completely thrilled with persevering and waiting till I could get just what I wanted. I see a long and happy future in store with my new baby in my hands! These are some beehives that we spotted on the side of the road, I liked the textures and colour contrasts of them. I couldnt get too close though, I needed some better boots!

Doesn't Grace look like she's having fun?

This horse sure wanted treats!

But would settle for a scratch on the nose.

Horses, snow, makes a girl smile (finally!).

Rudolph!

I am a sucker in a big way for the 'traditional' Christmas shows. Rudolph is a classic. It takes me back to being little and the excitment, the anticipation, the magic of it all. It was so special and I haven't been able to capture that same sense of wonderment. Having kids has helped but its just not the same. I have tried very hard to keep over commercialism out of the whole affair. We never really did Santa with the kids. I can so clearly remember when I was about 7, the older kids at school were spreading this nasty rumor that Santa wasn't real. That he was all made up. I couldn't believe my ears and so when I got home from school I had to ask my mom and I was sure she would reassure me. She told me how Santa is real if you believe in him, or something else that was equally as unassuring. I can remember that it felt just like my best friend was dead. It felt awful. I felt as though my parents had been lying to me. I felt betrayed and hurt. and I cried. And cried. I can remember the betrayment and the feeling of being lied to so strongly that I never wanted to lie to my kids. We played with the whole Santa thing just a little, but I just couldnt lie or sneak around about it. Anyways, the sum of the whole thing is, even watching Rudolph is not putting my heart into Christmas this year. It just isn't there. I would like to skip over the whole thing and if it wasnt for the girls, I would.

Noel

I have started to attempt to start some decorating for Christmas. I still have a long ways to go, and I am not sure what direction this theme is going. I may just decide to abandon the whole thing and go more traditional. I cant beleive how depleted my decorations are now. Of course, filling those HUGE vases with balls didnt help. I do love pink with this green was have our living room painted. The poppies over the fireplace seem tragically out of place though. Maybe I will redo the whole thing with red and gold. Tie in the poppies a little better, or take them down for a while. I made this "noel" fram with an old frame I got last year and covered the matt that came with it in some old Chatterbox paper, made a background from old pink chatterbox and use some green twinkle type.

For now that is all I have to show...... Hopefully I will get on the ball here and start more regular updating.
